Douglas Hall 0 Lakewood Athletic 1. What a performance from Lakewoods under 17 Premier team after the loss on penalties in the semi final of the cup last week. Lakewood went to the champions elect who needed a point to win the league and who were unbeaten in the league but the lads were not willing to be the bridesmaids today. From the 1st minute they mixed it with Douglas the first half there were few chances and the half ended scoreless. The 2nd half started with Lakewood slightly the better and went ahead in the 55th min after Stephen O’Connor floated in a free from the left and Daniel Akinrinbola won the header which fell to James Falvey who calmly dispatched the hall to the net. Douglas threw everything at Lakewood but the lads were brilliant keeping their shape and composure to repel attack after attack and on the occasions that they did get a shot on goal Darragh Newman was outstanding beetween the sticks. A great performance from all 12 today you all deserve a pat on the back well done
