Lakewood Development Plan 2016-2021
Lakewood has over 500 players registered for the 2016/2017 season. The playing population was 30 in 1996. This represents a compound growth rate of 12% per annum. This growth includes approximately 100 female players, which makes the club one of the most successful in attracting players to participate in team sports locally.
The club has achieved success in the following ways:
- 16 schoolgirls and 4 schoolboys capped for Ireland;
- Lakewood players have captained the national team in full internationals;
- 120+ players represented Cork and Munster
Lakewood now has capacity issues. The club have had to refuse entry to potential new members over the last 2 years. The club facilities lag behind those of the other major urban centres locally, such as Carrigaline, Midleton, Blarney, and Mallow. Club facilities urgently need to be upgraded in the form of segregated dressing rooms for ladies and men, girls and boys, construction of a new full size all weather pitch, and the establishment of a facility to store training equipment.
Lakewood has launched it’s Development Plan 2016-2021 to help achieve it’s strategy and to ensure that the club can accommodate future growth in playing numbers. A visual of the proposed new all weather pitch is set out on left:
- Strong association of your brand with a local, national and international success story. (Helps businesses in brand, community relations, employee relations and recruitment)
- Contribute meaningfully to public policy objectives – health, obesity, gender participation, social inclusion, mental health etc.
- Increased player participation – giving the club critical resources to grow its numbers by 30% over the course of this plan
- Increased social inclusion in world’s most popular sport
- Build on the great support/lead the club has shown on diversity
- Further increasing female participation at a rate of 10% p.a.
- Allowing soccer to grow with the population in the largest satellite town in Cork. Without this investment, participation numbers will stall or fall
- Enhance the attractiveness and reputation of the locality by creating a valuable amenity
Personal (Non Corporate) Support for Lakewood Development Plan
For individuals there are two main options to financially support the Lakewood Athletic Development Plan:
Option A
Join the “Friends of Lakewood”
- €10 per month via Standing Order
- Payment term is 60 months
- Acknowledgement in a permanent way near the new all weather pitch, (anonymity for those who don’t want any recognition).
We recommend one sets up a standing order via your own banking online facility as this is the quickest way to set it up. Your bank will require the payee details for Lakewood AFC, which is as follows:

Join the “Lakewood Patrons”
- Contribute €1,000 up front (or what your budget allows)
- Roll of Patrons on a pitch side sign and acknowledgement in the local press (anonymity for those who don’t want any recognition)
- Concessionary advertising rates

Corporate Support for Lakewood Development Plan
There are 4 categories of Corporate Sponsorship available within the Lakewood Development Plan 2016-2021. A summary of each sponsorship category is set out below, with indicative costs and a summary of what Lakewood will provide to each sponsor:
→ Platinum Sponsor – Indicative Cost €40,000
- Naming rights on all weather pitch for 5 years
- Platinum supporter on digital platforms
- Prominent advertising rights on the new all weather pitch
- Access to the facility
→ Corporate Champion – Indicative Cost €40,000
- Prominent and regular acknowledgement of Corporate Social Responsibility giving and support of the community
→ Gold Sponsor – Indicative Cost €20,000
(€12,500 up front with balance over paid annually over 5 years, 5 sponsorship spaces available)
- Facebook, Twitter, Text mentions
- Shirt/Bib sponsors in their sections
- Internal competition naming rights
- Summer camp sponsorship
- Pitch sponsor for no1, no2 sponsors
- Advertising rights on new all weather pitch
