Lakewood 4 Park 2

Second in the league, Park came to Lakewood this morning needing a win to go top. Lakewood needed a win to avoid relegation for next season. Add that to the history between them over the last 3 seasons and you have a good battle on the cards.
A tight game from the start with both sides giving all. Lakewood had the better of the first 20 mins with more attacks but Park proved quick on the counterattack and came close a few times . Christian Warren made some excellent saves early on keeping the score level.
Colum Quinn
Lakewood s cries for a penalty were denied after a clear handball in the box and 1 min later Park were awarded a free from the right which was neatly slotted in under the crossbar. Remained 1-0 until half time.
Good attacking play from the restart saw Lakewood level up soon after the restart after a cross from Heidi O Sullivan landed for Arron Murphy to smash it home. Park got awarded a penalty 2 minutes later , and scored but that just served to up the tempo from Lakewood . Long balls hit out from Lakewoods defence had Park running backwards and after a few minutes of pressure the goal came after Heidi’s cross found Ciaran Buckley after the goalie punched it to him. Park started looking tired now and Arron Murphy stepped up to score the third after some fancy footwork that would rival Ronaldo he left 3 players on the ground and hit it neatly into the corner. Brilliant goal. With 5 mins to go and Stephen Naughton put in a ball that the keeper knocked straight on to Luke Harris’s foot. 4-2 Lakewood. outstanding play all round today Alex,Harry,Sean, Stephen and Rory all outstanding at the back. No park goals from play. Peno and a free. Great result lads.Looking forward to Coachford in the Cup Quarter final on Tuesday.
