U14 Leonard Gould Cup
Coachford 1 Lakewood 7
The u14s travelled to Coachford for their quarter final tie up and proved to be too strong for the home team. A few early shots went just wide and straight at the keeper but after 12 mins Ciaran Buckley was first to find the net. He soon added a second after a little flick on from Heidi O Sullivans free kick. Paul Omoshule was once again on fire in midfield, winning tackles and started off many of the Lakewood attacks. Coachford had a couple of chances but Alex O Regan and Harry Mc Ginn at centre back cut out any attacks. Luke Harris was next to score and set the scoreline at 3 -0 at the break.
Playing out of the sun and with the light breeze in the second half the lads upped the pace. Cross after cross were landing in front of goal from Dylan Quinn on the right and Pete Kelly on the left but Coachfords defence stood firm until Rory O Flynn got his shot off. 4-0.
Evan O Driscoll had his shot bounce of the crossbar and Brian Dore had an overhead bicycle kick come down from the crossbar to a waiting Paul, who knocked it over the line 5-0. Ciaran got his hatrick after a blocked shot fell to him and he put it in the bottom right corner.6-0. Coachford got a consolation late in the game from a free kick. But Sean O Neill replied less than 30 seconds after, with his trademark “hail mary” shot from the edge of the centre circle. What a shot.
Another fantastic team effort, our passing was next level stuff tonight. 19 goals last year on the way to win the cup, 24 goals already in 4 cup games this year and we are only heading to the semis.
Great result lads
