Lakewood 13s manage amazing comeback to take the cup.
Anyone at this cup final saw what can only be described as a lesson in never giving up. These lads pulled off a victory that seemed out of reach at times.
The first half was an uphill battle from the get go against a very tough opposition. They scored twice in the first half to set the score line at 2-0 at the break. Lakewood had few chances in the half but none of the luck came our way.
All or nothing time and after getting the lads to lift the heads they came out and took the game to Springfield.
Brian Dore was the first to score and start the comeback after a rolling ball came in from the right and and he powered it home.
Dylan Quinn got the equaliser after a perfect pass across the box from Sean o Neill . Spirits up Lakewood went looking for the win but got caught out by Springfields quick counter attacking play. 3-2 to springfield.
Lakewood get a corner with 2 mins on the clock and Harry McGinn stepped up to take it.
With 2 steps he hit a beautiful curling shot straight into the net off the far post right from the spot. 3-3 at full time.
Springfield scored in the first half of extra time. But this Lakewood team are fighters and kept piling on the pressure. The reward came with about 20 seconds on the clock when Brian slipped up the left , and got on the end of a cross from the right. With 2 defenders throwing everything they had at him he calmly slotted it home to level up.4-4.
