5-1 win vs Carrigaline Hibs sends u13s into final.
These lads usually take a few minutes to settle into a game but not tonight. From tip off Alex O Regan played back to Luke, who sent it to Sean O Neill at left back, who sent it long up the wing to Ciaran Buckley who sent it straight into the Carrigaline goal 15 seconds in. 1-0
Before Carrigaline could recover from the shock Lakewood got a second at the 10min mark when Sean O Neill let fly with a rocket from 10 yards outside the area. 2-0.
Lakewood took control of the game now , instantly shutting down Carrigaline when they gained posession and passing the ball around with great confidence.
Ciaran Buckley racked up his second 10 mins before the break with a terrific shot across the keeper inside the far post.
3-0 at halftime.
Lakewood were against the strong wind in the second half so we re-structured 5 at the back to bulk up the defence. Hibs pushed hard to try and pull one back but Lakewoods quick counter attacks caught them out again at the back when Brian Dores shot slipped under the keeper and slowly rolled in. 4-0
The visitors pulled one back when a loose ball bounced off the knee of their striker and managed to beat Cathal O Driscoll in goal. 4-1
Lakewood took the tip off and before Carrigaline had finished celebrating their goal Pete Kelly knocked another in for Lakewood at the other end. What a reply.
5-1 at the final whistle.
We play Springfield Ramblers on Saturday in the final. A friendly earlier in the year ended in a 2-2 draw, so should be a good game.
