U14 Premier League
Mallow Utd 3 Lakewood Athletic 1
A badly understrenght Lakewood put in a tremendous effort away to high flying Mallow and with a little luck could have secured a result. Stunning the home side after just 2 minutes with Jamie Dineens finish from Colm Quigleys corner they put in a fine half of disciplined defending and commitment before a half cleared corner from Mallow was driven back in past impressive keeper Michael Brennan right on the half time whistle for 1-1
Mallow piled on the pressure early in the second half but Lakewood seemed capable of handling all efforts until a sliced clearance left a gap for the striker who took full advantage.  Lakewood forced 3 successive corners, excellently swung in by Daniel ODriscoll but nobody could get the vital touch and without a bench to replace tiring players to match their hosts fresh introductions,  a 3rd goal arrived in the dying moments to seal the points for Mallow. Great display from all present and underlined the view that with a full squad we could match anybody.
