Goals from Joe Edmead and Dan Donovan, a solid defence and a hard-working midfield saw the Lakewood U18 Premier team progress to the next round of the cup on Saturday evening under lights in Blarney.
After spurning 4 good chances in the first half-hour Lakewood went ahead when Joe calmly slotted home Seth’s deep left-wing cross that was let bounce in the box. And early in the 2nd half, Brian Elliott was upended after a mazy dribble that took him past 3 players to win a penalty converted by Dan. Dara made 2 good saves to ensure the home team didn’t make the last 5 minutes interesting, but otherwise Lakewood were in full control throughout.
