With several key U14 players missing this was always going to be a tough match. Lakewood were slow from the blocks and conceded several easy goals in the first half. They came alive and played football the way they are capable of for the latter part of the first half without conceding for the last 15 mins. This carried through to the second half and the hosts scored a goal within 5 minutes of kick off when Jamie Dineen’s low drive across the keeper ended in the far net. However Lakewood couldn’t keep the momentum going and the visitors scored a further 3 as the Lakewood players tired. Thanks to the valiant U13’s of Ciaran, Paul, Fintan and Jack who provided cover for the missing U14 players.
