Carrigtwohill Utd 1 Lakewood Athletic A 5.
Lakewood really turned on the style with a powerful display that blew away promotion rivals Carrigtwohill inflicting a first home defeat of the season on their hosts and at the same time guaranteeing themselves promotion for a tremendous third season in a row. On top from the first whistle a flick on by Jack Mellerick put in Fionn OShea who hammered home the lead goal on 5 minutes to rock the hosts. Constant pressure forced the second via an o.g and though Carrigtwohill pulled one back in a rare attack, the two goals cushion was restored just before half time when Richard Cullinanes in swinging corner was headed home by Jack. As expected Carrig put everything into the 1st ten minutes of the second half but the Lakewood defence was rock solid and when Adam O Sullivan volleyed home number 4 the points were secure. Adam added a fifth following a fine run to complete an excellent display from the visitors who play closest rivals Park utd away next Friday in a match which can almost guarantee the winners the title.
