Lakewood had to get an early wake up call but took over completely in the second half as they moved into the quarter finals of the cup in Leeds park. Underdogs Leeds took an early lead which was cancelled out by Adam OSullivans sweet strike 5 mins later but a strangely lethargic Lakewood were rocked again before half time and went in 2-1 down at the break.
Beaten finalists last year lakewood were asked to show how badly they wanted another cracking at it and they went out transformed into the second half. Wingers Jack Mellerick and Adam caused havoc and Conor Eagles and Liam Linehan took over in midfield as Leeds struggled to get out of their half. Captain Fionn OShea hit top form and his mazy run and cross after 10mins was whipped home by Jack for the equaliser. 5 mins later Jack robbed the full back and returned the compliment and Fionn finished superbly. It was all Lakewood now and Fionn went on to score 2 more to complete the hat trick in what eventually became a comfortable ending to the game. Onwards to Friday and a top of the table clash v Carrigtwohill.
