Lakewood came out on top in an 8 goal thriller which had all the hallmarks of a post Christmas match. Against the run of play Ballinhassig went ahead on 30 minutes from a set piece and held that to half time. 10 minutes in to second half Lakewood were level with a headed goal from Stephen Wallace. Playing the better football at this stage Lakewood quickly added three more from Colin McCarthy, Jason McSweeney and Gary Casey. Stung, Ballinhassig upped the ante and scored twice before Colin McCarthy put the result beyond doubt when he added a 5th for Lakewood
