U12 Div 5
Lakewood Athletic B 3 Carrigaline B 4
Once more the Lakewood U12’s came from behind to level the match only to lose out at the end. Lakewood started very well with lots of pressure in the first 5 minutes with David coming close when he hit the post. Unfortunately it was Carrigaline who opened the scoring when an unsighted shot beat Luke in goal. Carrigaline were soon 2 goals up but this time it was a well worked goal that split the defence open. Lakewood came back when a long kick out from Luke in goal bounced over the defence and left Bradley to calmly slot the ball past the keeper. Each team scored once more in the first half with Lakewood’s Ronan scoring from an excellent corner delivery from David. In the second half Lakewood were dominant but just couldn’t get past the tall Carrigaline defence. Another goal from Bradley levelled the match and it looked as though Lakewood would take the 3 points with their continual runs on the Carrigaline goal. This theory was dashed when a Carrigaline player was given time on the ball to line up a shot outside the area that went into the top corner despite Luke being fully outstretched and getting finger tips to it. A further 15 minutes of mainly Lakewood pressure didn’t produce the much needed goal to share the spoils. Despite the result, there were some excellent passing routines between players with quite a few players playing new positions due to an expanding squad injury list. We welcomed back Moeez and wish Jake and Tareq speedy recoveries. All the team put 100% effort in and their goal scoring chances have vastly improved since the start of the season but the managers and players need to work on conceding less goals. Great team effort.
