U16 Premier Division:

Douglas Hall 1 Lakewood 2
Lakewood U16Ps stood up to atrocious weather conditions; gale-force wind, rain and bitter cold, to take 3 good away points this morning.
The key was the good start to both halves. Tyreik Wright scored early in the 1st, when he lobbed the keeper after good build-up play by Jamie O’Sullivan. However, a sloppy goal after ping-pong in the box made it 1-1 at HT.
But Tommie Murphy, whose thunderous volley had been brilliantly saved earlier, scored the winner early in the 2nd half when he ran onto Tyreik’s perfectly weighted cross-field ball before firing low across the keeper left-footed into the far corner.
A great team effort saw out the game after that. Dan and Liam worked hard in DM. Ryan and Jake Draper stuck very well to their task further up the pitch. And at the back, James Hickey, Jake O’Brien and Brian Elliott made numerous important interceptions, with Dara reassuringly safe and commanding in goal.
