Kinsale 2 Lakewood Athletic A 2

Top of the table clash and another gutsy performance from this Lakewood U14 team to come back from a goal behind in each half to finish the game level and extend their unbeaten run to 6 games all the way back to September last year. Kinsale went 4 goals up in the reverse fixture earlier in the season and the signs were there that it may happen again when they went 1 goal up within 1 minute. Lakewood wiped the sleep from their eyes and got down to business. Jack Davis was on form again as he scored a crisp free kick from outside the area midway through the first half and Lakewood dominated the remainder of that half.

The second half started like the first half with Kinsale scoring within the first few minutes and Lakewood once more went chasing the game. Tadhg O’Tuathaigh got rewarded for his relentless chasing up and down the pitch when great interplay from in form Bradley Keane left him through to calmly equalise. It’s fair to say that Kinsale were stronger after this as they attempted to capture all 3 points but Lakewood defended like warriors throughout. With a few excellent last ditch high speed interceptions from Kerry William, and several outstanding one on one saves from Luke Davis, Lakewood managed to hold on for a share of the points against this highly rated team.
