Lakewood travelled to Carrigaline for the first game of 2019 hoping for a change of fortune following recent results which hadn’t reflected the efforts and quality of the play by the players. Unfortunately it was not to be as shortly after a fine strike from Michael Murphy hit the net only to be disallowed for offside Carrigaline took the lead from a scramble following a corner just before half time to lead 1-0
Second half was similarly tight until a long cross bounced high on the astro over our full back and fell perfectly for the carrig striker who finished well. Half chances for Jack, Eoghan and Michael were fruitless and even when a home defender skied a clearance it bounced up and over off the crossbar.
A last minute strike from distance nestled in the corner to give Carrigaline a hard fought 3-0 win. Nathan Davis, Paddy Cronin and Olan Buckley were best for Lakewood.
