Lakewood 2-2 Kanturk
Lakewood took on the unbeaten Kanturk in Ovens on Saturday. It was an entertaining game with lots of chances however in the end the home side had to settle for a draw. For the second game running, lakewood scored in the opening minute with a well struck Kenny Murphy free kick. Kanturk were level after 5 minutes when Colin Moore tried to cut out a cross but unfortunately the ball ended up in his own net.
The home side had the majority of possession and created a few chances but it was level at the break.
Into the second half and Lakewood continued to push for the second goal It eventually came with 20mins remaining after neat through ball by Micky Lordan put Kenny Murphy in on goal, his well struck shot took a slight deflection off the defender and ended in the roof of the net. Once again however lakewood could only hold onto the lead for a few minutes as Kanturk equalised with a long free kick into the penalty area.  They won the first header and as the lakewood defence failed to react to the second ball, it was converted in off the underside of the crossbar.
The home side pushed for the winner but the Kanturk defence held solid.
Next week Lakewood travel to Rylane for another league game.
