Lakewood 0 – 0 Clonmel Celtic (Lakewood win 4-2 on penalties). Although there were no goals in this game, there were many chances but either side failed to convert. Lakewood started well and had the visitors under pressure in the first 10 minutes without creating any clear cut chances. Clonmel got a foothold for the next 20 and created a few chances. Their front two were lively throughout but Lakewood’s defense was not to be breached. Into the second half and Clonmel started strong forcing lakewood back. As the half progressed lakewood grew stronger and started creating more chances. Clonmel had the ball in the net however it was correctly ruled out for offside. Into the last 10 minutes and both sides again had chances to win it. James Murphy in goal for the home side pulled of a stunning save diving to his left deflecting the ball out for a corner. In the last minute lakewood broke and Evan Dodd had a chance to win it his shot went narrowly wide. Into extra time and lakewood were the stronger team as there fitness began to tell. Clonmel we’re holding out for penalties as lakewood missed 3 chances to win it however the away side survived. Onto the penalties and James Murphy was the hero saving and scoring one. Scorers were James Murphy, Evan Dodd, Arseni Lamenov and Kenny Murphy.
Great result and a fantastic team performance. Next week Lakewood are back in league action away to Tower on Saturday in Killowen at 2pm.
