Lakewood 2 Douglas Hall 6
A depleted Lakewood Athletic squad suffered their first home defeat of the season v current champions Douglas Hall but not after making them work every inch of the way for the victory. Supplemented by a number of u13s and asked to perform input of normal positions , it was no surprise to see the visitors race into a 2-0 lead after 20mins. But as they settled more into their shape the Lakewood resilience began to come through and they battled back into the game. Jamie Dineens long range free just before half-time brought a lifeline and against all the odds the sides were level 10mins into the second half when Bradley Keane finished well after the keeper had parried Jamie’s shot. The hall got number 3 to lead again and Lakewood almost equalised immediately before their Trojan efforts began to take their toll in the final quarter and a tired but gallant home side were undeserving victims of 3 goals in the final 8 minutes to leave a flattered Douglas Hall with the 3pts. Well done to all involved. Great effort.
