Lakewood exited the National cup last 32 at the hands of league rivals and nemesis Douglas Hall with a brave but losing display in Moneygourney. Early defensive errors were punished with 2 goals in the first 10 minutes as Douglas flew out of the blocks and all the pre game plans went out the window.
Lakewood settled down after that and though Douglas saw a lot of the ball they failed to trouble their visitors further until a corner was flicked home on the stroke of half-time for 3-0 and a mountain to climb.
Lakewood continued to try and play the game in the right manner to their credit though their weakness defending corners cost 2 more goals in the second half.
A great achievement for this team to get out of Cork just unlucky that the draw pitted them against their local rivals., though Lakewood still have the semi-finals of the local competition to contest.
