Anyone who had seen the first half of this one wouldn’t have believed the final outcome. Two fully committed and well matched teams reached the break scoreless with Lakewood having the better of the chances in the 1st half.
The second half was only 5 mins old and Lakewood were 2-0 down. Their concentration and flow disrupted by the break and sloppy play had the visitors in front. Fionn O Shea pulled one back but Fermoy went 3-1 ahead minutes later.
Fionn scored another from the penalty spot for 3-2 and with 15 to go Liam Linehans fine drive made it 3-3. The goals were flying in but unfortunately it was Fermoy again for 4-3 minutes later and as Lakewood pressed again the long ball over the top paid sweet dividends for Fermoy in the final minutes as their lightening quick striker punished the home side repeatedly as Lakewood committed numbers forward.
No goals first half, 10 goals second…..its a funny old game!!
