An excellent performance from the Lakewood U18P team in Cobh as they won on the road for the 2nd week in a row.

Key to the result was a determined defensive display. Only one real chance, just after half-time, was allowed to the opposition, and full-backs Seth and Josh and centre-backs Conor and Brian won every ball on the ground or in the air and set up many attacks. And in midfield, Dan and Patrick, and later David, put in big performances in the middle, with Joe and Mattie always looking a threat.

Lakewood had all the best chances in the first-half but shots from Nikita and Alan were deflected wide and their keeper slid out when Joe and Mattie had raced through.

Midway through the 2nd half, NIkita notched the opener, from Mateusz’ key pass. And both lads could have added to the scoreline before Tommie Murphy slotted home from Nikita’s pullback, to guarantee the win. A fine team effort. All 16 players again made a big contribution on the day.
