U15 Premier League
Lakewood Athletic 1 Corinthians 5
Lakewood Athletic came up against current league champions and league leaders  Corinthians and showed how much progress they are making with a fine display with the final scoreline doing scant justice to their efforts.
Corinthians went 1 up on ten minutes from a sweeping move but Lakewood stormed back and Eoghan O’Sullivans
sublime pass put Jack Mellerick in and he calmly stroked past the advancing keeper for 1-1 on 25. Deserved parity at half time, Lakewood were forced to restructure their defence following injury to Conor Eagles which in turn robbed the midfield of the influential Tadgh OConnell who had to step back.
Corinthians capitalised two minutes into the second half to regain the lead and again Lakewood regrouped and put pressure on the visitors for the next 10mins without reward.
There then followed a crazy 5 mins for Lakewood when Corinthians scored 3 and killed the game.
The first from a penalty knocked the stuffing from the team and the heads were gone. As champions do Corinthians seized their chance to grab the points.
To their credit Lakewood continued to try and grab a second in the remaining might items but it was not to be.
Work in progress and a lot to take from the game. Great effort.
