Lakewood a 1-0 Carrigaline. A
Lakewood knew what needed to be done today and from kick off attacked the Carrigaline goal Midfielders Shadrach and Alex Kavanagh supplied the forwards with some great opportunities in the early minutes. A perfect corner taken by Alex Mullins found the head of Rory o Flynn who gave the keeper no chance.
1 nil Lakewood.
New signing Robyn o Sullivan had a shot saved after getting behind the defence, and also set up Dylan Quinn who fired at the goalie and was also denied.
Shadrach and Charlie also had chances but it stayed 1-0 at halftime.
2 minutes into the second half and Lakewood were awarded a penalty after Arron Murphy got brought down in front of goal. Lakewood failed to capitalise on the opportunity .
Lakewood got caught by Carrigalines offside trap a few times , stopping Lakewoods attacking play in its tracks.
Across the back, Luke, Evan and Alex were solid and dependable as always
2nd new signing Heidi O Sullivan, was dominant in midfield and set up Robyn,with a great pass forward, but was once agin denied.
The final minutes of the game and Arron McCarthy took a solo run from midfield to the six yard box but was shut out at the last second.
Lots of pressure on Carrigaline for the rest of the game but it stayed 1-0 until full time.
Great team effort, 3 more points and puts us within 2 points of the league leaders with 1 game left.
