U12 Premier

Lakewood 2 Corinthians 1

Lakewood U12 Premier beat Corinthians 2-1 in Ovens.  Lakewood continued their run of good performances and this time came out the right end of a one goal difference in the scoreline.  Playing against the second in the league hot shots, Lakewood uncharacteristically started slowly but still a relatively even period of play ensued.   Slowly, we worked out way into the game but against the run of play Corinthians grabbed the opener which gave them the lead at half time.  Lakewood regrouped at the break and management urged a step up in intensity. The team responded brilliantly and mid way through the second half Johnny Galvin got on the end of a killer through ball, beating the excellent Corinthians keeper in a foot race to the ball and slotted it home.  Sensing the victory, we pushed on after that and after exquisite passing up the left hand side that involved 5 players, Sean Richmond rounded the keeper but ran out of space to score.  With Corinthians at sixes and sevens, Lakewood pressed up and in the ensuing melee Danny Miskella stepped up to calmly lob the ball over a stranded keeper to give Lakewood a well deserved win.  Great team win and great to see the lads taking league points from the title contenders. Just rewards for a continuing trend of improvement
