Lakewood u12 Premier team progress in first round of the National Cup. Lakewood traveled to Mallow Town to win 1-0 in the National Cup. This was the onvly all Premier tie in this round. Lakewood were out to avenge a heavy defeat in the league a fortnight ago at the same venue. With skill and determination Lakewood withstood the initial Mallow onslaught and grew into the game in the first half. With Josh MccCarthy and Ben O’Connell as rocks at the back, Lakewood pressed forward, with Johnny Galvin netting the crucial goal just before half time.
In the second half Mallow pressed extensively but in truth didn’t have too many shots on target to trouble James O’Keeffe the Lakewood keeper. Impressive debuts for Danny Miskella and Sean Richmond were amongst the notable points from the game. Hard work and a real squad victory were rewarded today and Lakewood now advance to play Avondale Utd in the National Cup second round.
