Lakewood 6 Riverston 2
U12 Premier advance in National Cup beating Riverstown 6-2. An industrious display by Lakewood who were just too strong for this crafty division 1 side. Johnny Galvin opened our account (keeping up his run of scoring in all recent games). This one was straight from a corner. Shortly afterwards, Johnny expertly crossed another corner and it was met by a tremendous Ben O’Connell header that was too hot for the Riverstown keeper to handle and Sean Richmond poked it home. As the game progressed other goals were added by Danny Miskella and Ben O’Connell. Sean Kirby’s turn of pace up front was simply too much for Riverstown and he added a brace of goals before the end. The scoreline was perhaps too harsh a reflection of a talented Riverstown side whose goals included a penalty that Lakewood’s James O’Keeffe saved but was converted on the rebound. Lakewood face either Wilton or Skibbereen in a fourth round tie away on weekend of 18th / 19th November.
