No reward for honest commitment and endeavour from Lakewood where an evenly balanced game was decided with 12mins to go when the home side scored twice in 60 seconds to grab the points. Heartbreaking for the visitors who although getting little change from a huge Midleton back 4 , more than held their own at the other end as Nathan Davis and Michael Murphy dealt capably with the Midleton strikers ably supported by the full backs Conor Eagles and Reece Parsons. It was from a half cleared corner that the first was driven back into the net and as a shattered Lakewood were regrouping a long punt downfield brought hesitation from our defence allowing a Midleton toe to poke the second past stand in keeper Olan Buckley who had a fine game between the sticks. Darragh O Reilly also gave a tireless performance in the middle of the park for Lakewood on his return from injury.
