U14 Premier League
Lakewood Athletic 2 Mallow utd 2
Lakewood Athletic put a huge dent in the title aspirations of visitors Mallow with a determined and gritty performance in Ovens. Having won all but 1 of their previous games in league and cup, Mallow started confidently, stroking the ball about and whipping in crosses but excellent and committed defending from Lakewood kept them at bay before a sliced clearance gave an opening which was seized on for 1-0 on 20mins to Mallow.
Lakewood began to take a grip in the middle with huge workrate from James Dwyer, Jamie Dineen, Ciaran Buckley
and Colm Quigley and it was Colm who refused to give up on a lost cause who got us back level at the break.
Lakewood continued to apply pressure on the ball all over the pitch and the outlets of Morgan Foley and Daniel ODriscoll caused problems for the Mallow defence. Mallow retook the lead midway through from a fine strike which just beat the outstretched fingers of Michael Brennan but Lakewood refused to lie down and Colm Quigley drove home a well deserved  equaliser from 20 yards with 10 minutes to go. Tadgh Oconnell and Michael Murphy locked up shop at the heart of the defence and both Shane Hughes and Reece Parsons shackled the Mallow wingers as Lakewood took a great point from the title challengers.
