U14 Premier League Lakewood 1 : 1 Bandon  (HT 0 : 1)

Lakewood & Bandon took a share of the spoils in a tight contest in Ovens on Saturday afternoon.

Bandon started the brighter of the two teams and after sustained pressure broke the Lakewood defence on 15 minutes when a loose ball in the box was struck to the corner out of the reach of Lakewood keeper Clodagh Fitzgerald.

The second half saw a stronger performance from the Lakewood side as they started to pass and move the ball.  The first chance fell to Abby Murphy when she found herself on the end of a cross after some superb running from Heidi O Sullivan on the left wing, unfortunately Murphy lifted it over the crossbar.  On the 57th minute Lakewood finally made the breakthrough pushing high on the Bandon kick-out the ball fell to O’Sullivan who struck sweetly from 20 yards out lifting the ball over the keeper in to the net.

Both teams continued to chase for the winner Bandon extremely dangerous on the break were marshalled well by the Lakewood defence of the McGoldrick sisters, Clara Daly and Sophie O’ Connell.

Plenty to work on for the Lakewood girls going forward but in a tight game great to get our first points off Bandon in two seasons.
