U16 Girls National Cup
Passage 2 : 3 Lakewood (0:2 Half Time).

Lakewood came out on top of this titanic tussle and in to the next round of the U16 National Cup with the slimmest of margins. Both sides brimming with talent treated spectators to a wonderful spectacle of football with great attacking and defensive displays.

Lakewood drew first blood early in the first half (6th minute), Zara Foley with a defence splitting pass found Lauren Singleton who made no mistake with her shot passed the Passage Keeper. Lauren doubled her tally on the 37th minutes after Megan Carr provided her with a sublime cross after some excellent trickery helping her to beat her player.
Passage were not without the chances in the first half but for some excellent defending from Ciara Lee, Hollie Kierans, Grace Oldham, Éabha O Mahony and keeper Allie Mullins O Keefe who had to be brave in coming out and smothering several chances in the box.

As they say 2:0 is the most dangerous score line in soccer. Passage came out in the second half with renewed vigour and determination. Within 15 minutes they had tied the game 2:2 with two quality strikes. The game ebbed and flowed for the next 20 minutes before Éabha sealed the win for Lakewood with a sublime strike from the edge of the box.
A superb game from two excellent sides.
