Lakewood 3 – 3 Greenwood
Lakewood dropped 2points at home against Greenwood on Saturday afternoon in Ovens. The first half was scrappy and Lakewood took the lead when Kenny Murphy scored with a long range effort. The home side we’re then denied a penalty when instead the referee somehow decided to give a free out. Greenwood were really up against it when were reduced to 10 men after 40 minutes. The away side battled hard and were given a penalty when the ball struck the hand of Micky Lordan who could do little about it. Greenwood’s goal keeper took the resulting penalty and blasted it home. 1-1 at HT.
Lakewood controlled the majority of possession in the 2nd half and took the lead when Kenny Murphy squared for Arseni Lamenov to put the ball in the net. Jonny Higgins was then taken down by the goalkeeper and Kenny Murphy scored from the spot to make it 3-1. The game looked over at this stage however Greenwood battled back to claim a point. They scored from a corner to make it 3-2 and then from a long ball over the top Greenwood scored the equalizer with 5 minutes left. In the last minute lakewood created one more opportunity however the Goalkeeper rushed off his line to make a great save from Mo Vangahun.
This will go down as 2 points dropped for the home side. It’s the final fixture before the Christmas break.
