Lakewood Under 12 Prems were on the wrong end of a 5 goal thriller in the National Cup 4th Round against Mallow Town this morning. It was an early start in Mallow, and a pulsating game was level 2-2 at full time after two Danny Miskella finishes for Lakewood. Mallow won the game with a headed third goal in extra time to seal their passage out of Cork. The Lakewood team were applauded off the pitch by the supporters of both teams after one of their best performances of the season. It was a tough physical game with no quarter being asked for or given. While obviously gutted at the end, some consolation can be taken from knowing that nothing was left out on that pitch today. Only the kick of a ball separated the long time Premier leaders and Lakewood today, and it could have gone either way. The boys will have an early chance for revenge as next Sunday sees the first league meeting between the sides this season. Truly, these boys did the club proud today.
