Douglas Hall A 3 Lakewood Athletic A 3

Another draw for this gutsy team this morning versus a large physical
Douglas Hall team. As per usual form, Lakewood had to come back from
behind after going 1 nil down in the first minute. The visiting team
settled after this and it wasn’t long before the match was all even
after Ross McCarthy nicely found the bottom corner from the edge of the
area. Captain Kerry William could have made it 2-1 to Lakewood after
driving through the midfield to end up one on one with the keeper but
the shot was just that too close to the keeper. Kerry got his goal
minutes later when his shot outside the area was mishandled by the home
keeper. At half time it was 2-1 to Lakewood with Bradley Keane solid but
having very little to do in-between the sticks. Lakewood carried on
where they left off and got their 3rd goal. A free kick by Jack Davis
into the Douglas Hall area got deflected until it ended with Kerry who
put it away. Lakewood should have held on to the 3-1 win however an OG
from a corner and a Douglas Hall goal in the last seconds robbed the
visitors of all 3 points. If the opening draw against Mallow was a point
rescued from being 2 nil down this was definitely a case of 2 points
dropped but the team remain unbeaten after 2 games. Notable performances
from Luke Davis who made a great save in the second half, and Arran
Smyth and Charlie Delaney who were buzzing in midfield.
