A really important focus for all club players and supporters in January 2017 is to get behind the Lakewood Development Plan. We have done many of the difficult bits – including getting planning permission to build a full size all weather pitch; securing significant funding from FAI and making great progress with a fund that will provide a major part of the monies required. Next month applications close for government capital funding for developments like this and we want to be in a strong position. That means the club needs to demonstrate that its players, supporters, their families and the local community are rallying behind this project.
We have seen amazing generosity to date in supporting this project and if you haven’t played your part yet and joined the effort (for as little as €10 a month) now is the time to do so. It will make a difference in our government application.

- In addition to local fundraising, the club has secured funding of €150,000 from the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) and the support of a capital fund who will provide monies for the project .
- In February we will submit an application to the government’s Sports Capital Grant schemes
- To get the maximum that this project deserves, it is really important that we maximise local community and corporate support.
