Lakewood Junior B`s came out on top in an exciting and tense Presidents Cup quarter ,against St John Bosco B, this afternoon in Lakewood. Some what against the run of play Bosco`s went ahead after 25 minutes. However Lakewood were level in minutes with a great strike by Colin McCarthy continuing his scoring streak. A goal from Jack Smith meant we went into the half time break ahead. As anticipated Bosco`s started the second half on the offensive and soon drew level. Both sides were now creating good scoring chances. With 15 minutes to go Bosco`s went ahead undaunted. Showing great spirit Lakewood refused to give up and in the dying minutes of the half equalised with a deft strike by Jason McSweeney. Into extra time and in the first period Lakewood were awarded a penalty which Jason coolly slotted home. This was a great win for Lakewood who showed showed spirit, determination and resilience in overcoming a good St John Bosco`s team.
