A thrilling encounter was played out at Lakewood on friday evening. The Lakewood’s lads were feeling confident going into the tie, but knew it would be a tough game to win as Corinthians finished their league campagin on top of the division above us.
Attacking from the kick off , 2 mins gone and striker Arron Murphy blasted the ball past the visitors defence and in to the net.
As Corinthians recovered from the early shock it became an evenly matched contest with both teams quickly countering each others attacks. Luke, Sean Alex and Evan had a tough job in the back containing Corinthians no 10 and no8. Alex kavanagh in goal made a few great saves to hold onto the lead and 20 mins in Shadrach fired one home . 2-0
Corinthians upped their pace and netted one just before the break. 2-1.
Into the second half and Arron MacCarthy was very unlucky not to slip one in after getting in behind the defence with his burst of speed. Shadrach had a screamer saved by the keeper , and Ciaran Buckley was unlucky when his shot after a solo run up the wing went just wide.
About 10 mins to go and the visitors leveled up after a break through the centre .
2 minutes left and Dylan Quinn put in a pinpoint cross from the right wing to Arron Murphy who became the hero of the day with a beautiful strike into the top left corner. #Legend

This team gets better with every game. Roll on the quaterfinals on Sunday.
