Lakewood prevailed over a quality Kerry side in Round 2 of the National Cup in perfect conditions in
Listowel.
Lakewood started the game on the front foot attacking from the start with great endeavour from Ciara Taheny and Laura Hill on the wings providing quality ball to the industrious strikers Miletta Rikuste, Lucy Morley and Vanessa Alatise.
Good work from the Listowel defence and keeper kept them at bay until the 30th minute when Heidi O Sullivan scored with a sweet free kick from the left-hand side. In the second half Lakewood picked up where they left strong defending from Maedbh and Sadbh McGoldrick, Kamile Riskute, Clara Daly and debutant Molly McCarthy kept the Listowel on the back foot.
Lakewood eventually ground Listowel down with a further two goals from Heidi O Sullivan and one from the industrious Sophie O Connell to book their place in the next round of the National Cup.
