Riverstown A 3 Lakewood Athletic B 1

A disappointing result away to Riverstown, and similar encounters in the last 2 matches against Leeside, have seen this Lakewood team not gather any points from the last 3 games. The dominant Lakewood team pre Easter seems to have temporarily disappeared. A failure to close down the opposition fast enough and poor decision making lead to most of the goals, along with a few dubious offside decisions. However Lakewood created enough chances to win the game but just couldn’t find the back of the net. Lakewoods only goal came 8 minutes in and just 4 minutes after the home team opened the scoring. Kerry William provided a lovely through ball that Paul Omoshule tucked away. After headers, free kicks and goal mouth scrambles in the oppositions area failed to provide any reward it seemed as if lady luck also wasn’t on Lakewoods side. Notable players on the day were today’s captain Adam English who was very solid at centre back, James O’Keeffe in goal for the second half and Tadhg Tuathaigh with his great engine was frankly everywhere. Lakewood need to find their mojo for their remaining 3 league matches and a final cup run.
