Ringmahon Rangers A 3 Lakewood Athletic A 3

Ground hog day again for this Lakewood team in a highly entertaining and even battle versus last weeks opponents again. Once more Lakewood opened the scoring within 10 minutes when Ross McCarthy controlled the ball well on his chest and volleyed the ball into the corner of the night. Just like last week, Ringmahon equalised within a few minutes. The home team took the lead just a few minutes later and looked dangerous on the break. However this squad does not give up easily and were soon level after a pinpoint free kick from Oscar Rickard was cleanly headed in by Tadhg Tuathaigh. Half time and two goals each as per last weeks game in another fiercely contested battle.

Each team had moments in the second half to take the lead but it was Ringmahon who took one of their chances after a goal mouth scramble found its way into the net. Lakewood took the game to the home team and attack after attack threatened their goal, a few shots just wide and the crossbar hit before the equaliser was scored. Daniel McCarthy went past 3 players before he was cruelly dumped in a heap but not before he could pass the ball on to Darragh O’Regan. Darragh used his speed to round the keeper before calmly chipping the ball into the net. The game ended a 3 -3 draw with Lakewood coming from behind twice. A fair result in a highly entertaining battle but does little for either teams points tally. That’s 5 draws in a row for this Lakewood team, with 4 draws against last years league winners and runners up, Ringmahon and Mallow respectively. Lakewood maintain their top of the league status for the moment but with the teams below with games in hand it is highly likely that this could change in the coming weeks. Regardless of the end position, no one can doubt this teams commitment, effort and sheer doggedness to have only been beaten once so far with 1 game remaining of the season.
