Lakewood Athletic FC was founded in 1981. The club is situated on the West side of Ballincollig, in Barnagore, Co.Cork. The Ballincollig area and wider hinterland has a population of approximately 35,000 people. Lakewood currently has over 500 playing members.

Lakewood has over 500 players registered for the 2016/2017 season. The playing population was 30 in 1996. This represents a compound growth rate of 12% per annum. This growth includes approximately 100 female players, which makes the club one of the most successful in attracting players to participate in team sports locally.
However, we now have capacity issues. The club have had to refuse entry to potential new members over the last 2 years. Club facilities urgently need to be upgraded in the form of segregated dressing rooms for ladies and men, girls and boys, construction of a new full size all weather pitch, and the establishment of a facility to store training equipment.
We have launched our Development Plan 2016-2021 to help achieve it’s strategy and to ensure that the club can accommodate future growth in playing numbers.
