U14 Div 2

Lakewood 2 Passage 4

Lakewood U14 lost 4-2 on Saturday to Passage

Passage capitalised on a very strong wind from the kick off and scored in the first 2 minutes. Lakewood couldnt settle against the wind and their usually very strong passing game, just didnt seem to work. A second from Passage and a third had the heads down approaching the Interval but Brian Dore pulled one back for Lakewood just before the break giving a much needed lift. Spirits lifted and with the wind in the second half the lads played much better football but the ball would not go in the net. Crosses into the Passage box never seemed to find the boot of any Lakewood players, but the never give up attitude of this team is commendable. Pete Kelly had a shot saved, Ciaran Buckley sent one just over, Sean O’Neill had a shot from midfield crack off the crossbar and the Passage keeper made another couple of excellent saves. Panic and passion started to mix and saw Lakewood give away a few free kicks which Passage used very smartly to slow the game, Ciaran finally found the net but it came just a little to late. Tiredness started creeping in and we got caught out by a great counter attack from Passage which finished us off.
